Local political subdivisions: county local propositions, cities, school districts, water districts, hospital districts, and any other local government that conducts elections. The majority of these elections are conducted on the May uniform election date.

Filing period : Generally, the filing deadline is the 62nd day prior to election day (70th day prior to November General); however, the Election Code may provide a different special election filing deadline. See Section 144.005(a) of the Texas Election Code. Local political subdivisions, other than cities or school districts, might not have a "first day" to file. Filing deadlines vary for special elections to fill vacancies. See Section 201.054 of the Texas Election Code. Write-in deadlines for general and special elections also vary, but the deadline is usually on the 5th day after the regular filing deadline for the election.
